4.2 Installing the Driver in Windows XP For Use With the Zero

Config Utility

Windows XP PCI driver only installations require the physical installation of the PCI adapter and the

installation of the device driver.

Use the Windows XP Zero Config utility as the adapter management tool if using the Symbol PCI

adapter without the Symbol Configuration Utility or if using a 3rd party software supplicant. The

Symbol Configuration Utility does not function properly while 3rd party software supplicants are

loaded on the system.

If a version of the Symbol Wireless Networker 802.11 a/g Configuration Utility resides on the system

remove it. Select Start->Programs->Symbol Wireless Networker->Uninstall.

To install the driver for use with the Windows XP Zero Config utility:

1. Ensure the previously installed Symbol Wireless Networker 802.11 a/g Configuration Utility

and driver have been removed (if necessary).

2. Download the driver and Symbol Wireless Networker 802.11 a/g Configuration Utility from

the Symbol Web site (http://www.symbol.com/services/downloads/wn_a/jointfilesconvert/1264948/bg_drivers.html).

A File Download window displays prompting the user to either open the driver and

software installer or save the installation package to the system.

3. Select Open to proceed with the installation. A WinRAR self-extracting archive

window displays.

To manually install the driver and software package select Save, define a

destination location for the driver and software package and follow the prompts

displayed by the installer.

4. Select Install from the WinRAR self-extracting archive window to automatically extract the

driver package and launch the Symbol Wireless Networker Install Menu.
